Cutting & Preparing Threaded Rod on Site
When cutting threaded rod on site using an angle grinder or cold saw, damaged end threads can make starting a nut difficult.
Best Practice Cutting Method:

Thread two standard hex nuts onto the rod past your intended cut line.

Make a clean perpendicular cut through the rod using a thin metal cutting disc.

Chamfer the cut edge slightly using a grinding disc or file.

Unscrew the hex nuts off the fresh cut end—the nuts will clean up and re-align any burred threads automatically as they exit.

Pre-cut chemical anchor studs feature a $45^\circ$ chisel point on one end and a hex drive or flat end on the other.
